OUR STORY

As an undergraduate at Harvard, our Founder & President/CEO, Kelli Ann Hogan, dreamed of starting a foundation to help after-school programs better serve thousands of low-income youth like the young girl she mentored in the Boston public housing projects. Graduating with honors, Kelli established City Scholars® Foundation in 1993.

What the Foundation initially lacked in financial resources, Kelli made up for with her passion, determination and contagious enthusiasm that continues to inspire and engage donors and volunteers from all walks of life.

Since our humble beginnings in 1993, we’ve awarded small grants to neighborhood after-school programs (1994-1998); provided free training for after-school program leaders and staff (1999-2013); and, since 2014, sponsored our tuition-free City Scholars® Fellowship for Education to empower CEOs of education nonprofits that together help more than 50,000 predominantly low-income youth each year achieve against the odds.

. . . AND we’re just getting started.

Help us write our story.
